about
I wrote the last verse of this song the year after my wife died. I wanted this verse to comfort anyone else who had lost a loved one. In the photo I am pictured with Padre Callisto in San Giovanni Rotond in September 2005.
We are in the very garden where Saint Padre Pio spent so much of his time.I wrote the hymn to Padre Pio as a way of saying thank you to him for all his help and all his intercessions.
My wife Deirdre died in August 2003 and I went on my own to bring a donation to the Padre Pio friary in San Giovanni in Italy. This was to be an experience that I would never forget.
lyrics
You are There
When I'm feeling lonely and down, and when instead of smiling I frown,
I go somewhere that I can be alone, I talk to God when I am on my own.
I feel your presence , when I'm lonely , You are There
With all the seasons passing by, and the warm sun shining in the sky.
The birds and scent of flowers in the air, the loveliness of nature everywhere.
I feel your presence all around me . You are There.
And even in the deepest darkest night , I know you're there to guide me with your light. You're living in my neighbour and my friend.
I know your love for us will never end.
I feel your presence in all others , You are There.
When death and sorrow call upon my door, Your closer to me than you've been before. Your spirit gives me strength to ease my pain
And tells me that some day we'll meet again.
I feel your presence in my grieving , You are There

I am joined on this song by Bronagh Mullan who plays the piano beautifully and she also provides the gorgeous backing vocal as well. Bronagh is absolutely one extremely talented lady. Dermot Clenaghan another great talent plays the cello on this track and superb musician, Andrew Magee on the bass. The track was recorded at MK studios in Lisburn by my great friend Mike Keery.
